Американские покупатели массово переходят на китайские приложения из-за страха перед новыми пошлинами

American consumers are increasingly making purchases on Chinese platforms such as Temu, Shein, and AliExpress, fearing potential price increases due to new trade restrictions between the U.S. and China. According to analysts, demand for goods from these platforms has surged following government announcements about the possible introduction of additional tariffs on Chinese imports.

Why are Americans choosing Chinese apps?

  1. Fear of rising prices. If the U.S. administration imposes new tariffs, prices for electronics, clothing, and other goods from China in American stores may increase. Consumers are rushing to buy in advance at current low prices.
  2. Low cost and discounts. Temu, Shein, and AliExpress offer goods at prices lower than those of Amazon and Walmart, and aggressive marketing campaigns (coupon giveaways, free shipping) attract new customers.
  3. Fast delivery. Chinese retailers are actively developing logistics in the U.S., reducing delivery times from several weeks to a few days.

Market and Political Reaction

American retailers (Amazon, Walmart, Target) may face increased competition and will be forced to revise their pricing policies. Some legislators propose restricting the activities of Chinese platforms due to concerns about user data and "unfair" competition, while Chinese companies are increasing their presence. Shein is planning an IPO in London, and Temu is increasing its advertising budgets in the U.S.

Experts predict that even if new tariffs are not introduced, the habit of Americans buying on Chinese platforms may persist. This will create long-term challenges for local retail and increase trade tensions between the U.S. and China.
