Russian developers are creating the first domestic computer-aided design (CAD) system for microwave integrated circuits. The project, commissioned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is led by the scientific and production association "Critical Information Systems." The "National Computer Corporation", Rubius, scientists from TUSUR, and the company "Integral Solutions" are participating in the development. This was reported by the press service of "Astra Group."

The idea is that the new system will ensure Russia's technological independence in the field of designing microwave circuits used in satellites, automotive radars, and smartphones. It will replace foreign solutions that have left the market and become a national standard.

The first version will appear at the end of 2026 and will run on domestic operating systems, including Astra Linux version 1.8.2 and higher. It will be a desktop application with a multi-user mode and a built-in library of microwave elements. Elena Ivanova, Director of Software Development at "Critical Information Systems," emphasized:

The project is ambitious and knowledge-intensive: we want to not only repeat the functionality of foreign Keysight ADS or AWR Microwave Office, but also surpass them.

In 2027, the system will begin testing in production, with engineers from "NPP "Istok" named after Shokin" being the first users. In the future, integration with the "Svetlana-Rost" design toolkits is planned.

Development plans include support for distributed computing and AI tools for automatic generation of microwave circuits. According to developers' estimates, by 2030, the Russian CAD system should surpass foreign counterparts in its capabilities.
