Ippon has introduced Na+, a series of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) with sodium-ion batteries. It will include 13 models of single-phase devices with double voltage conversion, designed to protect servers, workstations, network equipment, laboratory instruments, and other sensitive electronics.
Advantages of sodium-ion batteries
Sodium-ion batteries are a promising alternative to lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries. Interest in the technology has grown significantly in recent years due to their availability, economic benefits, and high safety. However, to date, only a few UPS manufacturers in the world have started developing devices with this type of battery.
Key advantages of sodium batteries:
- Wide operating temperature range: from -40°C to +50°C with up to 80% capacity retention.
- High level of safety: no risk of thermal runaway, which is characteristic of lithium-ion batteries.
- Environmental friendliness: does not contain toxic substances, heavy metals, or aggressive acids.
- Long service life: 4-5 times longer than lead-acid counterparts.
- High cyclability: withstands up to 2000 deep discharge cycles (compared to 300-500 cycles for lead-acid batteries).
Technical specifications and economic benefits
The Na+ series UPS supportsfast charge recovery - up to 90% capacity in less than an hour. Due to the longevity of sodium batteries, companies can significantly reduce operating costs:
- Reduced maintenance costs - no need for frequent battery replacements.
- Storage savings - sodium batteries can remain in storage without degradation for up to 12 months.
"The Na+ series is not just a new line, but a significant step for the development of the entire industry. In fact, business gets the opportunity to choose UPS based on the characteristics of the batteries and their operational requirements, which allows to optimize costs, increase the reliability of power supply and make the infrastructure more efficient. We are glad to be among the first to introduce this technology into commercially available solutions," - emphasized Mikhail Vazisov, General Manager of Ippon.
Availability in Russia
The Na+ series UPS will be available through the official Ippon distributor - Merlion, as well as the brand's partner network. These devices offer a modern and safe approach to backup power.
