A study of the Russian IT market conducted by the MWS Cloud team, part of MTS Web Services, showed that the software market is becoming increasingly oligopolized (where a small number of large manufacturers or suppliers operate). In 2026, the share of the top 5 companies in the software market will reach 58%, and in the hardware market — 57.6%. The most oligopolized segments are payment systems (93%) and clouds (74%), while the most competitive is artificial intelligence (36%).
In the IT services market, growing dominance by major players is also being observed. In 2026, their share will amount to 53%, with the most notable dominance, at 89%, recorded in the colocation market (server hosting in data centers) and AI services (71%).
The study also showed that in the hardware market, the largest share of the top 5 companies falls on data storage systems (75%), servers (58%), and networking equipment (57%).
