The Russian company Mobile Inform Group (MIG) has successfully completed the adaptation of a mobile operating system based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for industrial devices on the i.MX 8M Plus platform.
In the course of the work, MIG specialists not only created and modified drivers for hardware components, but also adapted the AOSP 14 source code for specific device usage scenarios. The entire code base, including drivers, system libraries, and basic application software, is stored in the company's own repository on the local server infrastructure, which ensures complete control over the software lifecycle. The company said:
The complexity of the work lies in the fact that MIG has completed a very laborious and expertise-intensive stage of primary adaptation (bring-up) of the hardware platform for the mobile OS. The acquired competencies and the created software and hardware infrastructure allow the company to relatively quickly create AOSP-based system software for devices based on SoC NXP and other similar platforms, such as Rockchip.
