The RuStore app store team is launching a support program for regional developers aimed at promoting local services. As part of the initiative, RuStore experts will assess the number of digital products in the regions of Russia represented in the app store, as well as the quality of local services through user ratings and reviews.
App developers will receive additional promotion and targeting in RuStore, as well as the opportunity to participate in accelerator and educational programs. To do this, the application must be unique and benefit the local community. RuStore COO Ilya Sverchkov said:
The initiative is aimed at strengthening IT communities in the regions and developing the digital capabilities of Russians. As part of the program, we are already working with large IT clusters, including Gorky Tech (Nizhny Novgorod), Technopark Yakutia, as well as InvestHub and the IT Park of Kazan, which creates a solid basis for cooperation and exchange of experience.
As a reminder, RuStore was created by VK (formerly Mail.ru Group) under the patronage of the Ministry of Digital Development. This application catalog became available in May 2022. In early February 2023, RuStore exited beta testing. The store already has more than 80 thousand games and applications from developers from 40 countries around the world, and it has crossed the mark of 100 million installations. The monthly audience of RuStore in Russia exceeded 60 million people. Since 2023, RuStore must be preinstalled on all Android smartphones sold in Russia. And from September 1, 2025, a law came into force according to which RuStore must be installed on all smartphones and tablets sold in Russia, including iPhone and iPad.
