The Platform V Pangolin DB update allows reducing the data footprint on servers by half, and the disk space for transaction logs by 5-20 times.

The SberTech team has updated the Platform V Pangolin DB DBMS, adding a data storage mechanism that allows reducing the volume occupied by data on servers by up to two times, and the space for transaction logs by 5–20 times.

The technology is designed for companies using PostgreSQL-based DBMS. It eliminates data and index duplication and moves outdated row versions to a separate log. This reduces the load on the disk subsystem, helps to use server resources more efficiently, and speeds up recovery after failures.

According to Maxim Tyatyushev, CEO of SberTech, the update will allow large companies to optimize corporate information storage and improve the performance of IT systems without significantly expanding the server infrastructure.

Platform V Pangolin DB is a relational database management system based on PostgreSQL, designed for high-load systems with increased security and reliability requirements. The product is included in the register of Russian software and certified by FSTEC. According to the company, more than 150,000 DBMS installations are operated in Russia as part of services and applications with various levels of load and criticality.
