The deal is designed to strengthen the information security direction in Yandex Cloud — one of the most demanded on the platform.
Yandex B2B Tech and SolidSoft will be able to use each other's experience and technology to further develop their products. For example, the companies will combine the capabilities of the SolidWall WAF firewall and Smart Web Security — a Yandex Cloud service that protects against DDoS attacks and bots. This will provide customers with more reliable comprehensive protection. The joint venture also plans to strengthen protection mechanisms using AI technologies.
The solutions created by the joint venture will be available both in the cloud and on-premises — that is, customers will be able to deploy them on their own infrastructure. A number of Yandex Cloud products already have on-premises versions: these are the YDB DBMS, the Foundation Models service for working with generative models, Yandex SpeechKit speech technologies, and the DataLens BI tool.
Under the terms of the deal, Yandex and SolidSoft will receive equal shares in the joint venture. At the same time, Yandex will buy out 50% of SolidSoft, and Yandex will also be granted an option to increase its stake in the future. The joint venture will be managed by the founders of SolidSoft. The company itself will continue to develop its own products, and all existing SolidSoft agreements with customers and partners will remain in force.
