The release of the Red OS 8 operating system for the Arm architecture provides new opportunities for creating domestic hardware and software systems, and also expands compatibility with Russian hardware platforms.
Installation images of the operating system for various ARM platforms are already available on the "Red Soft" website. The company emphasized:
Updates for Arm and x86_64 architectures are released in parallel. The functionality of Red OS 8, the composition of its repository and the configuration of installation images are similar for both architectures.
Red OS 8 users also get more variability when building their IT infrastructure. According to the developers, in addition to devices from Russian companies, Red OS 8 demonstrates stable and correct operation on Ampere Altra and Huawei Kunpeng series processors.
Full support for Arm chips significantly expands the application scenarios of the operating system itself: Red OS 8 can be used as a general-purpose operating system for servers and workstations, as well as be part of industrial solutions.
