"Ростелеком" завершил перевод серверной инфраструктуры на российскую платформу Basis Dynamix

"Rostelecom" has migrated its virtual server infrastructure to the Basis Dynamix platform, the flagship product of the IT developer "Basis." In terms of the quality of the solutions provided, the "Basis" ecosystem corresponds to leading global counterparts in the field of infrastructure services.

The migration process from the foreign VMware platform began in 2023 with the corporate center and seven macro-regional branches of Rostelecom across the country with more than 120,000 employees. Currently, the migration of over 15,000 virtual servers of target information systems has been completed.

Basis Dynamix is included in the register of domestic software and meets state requirements in terms of reliability and security. The transition to the platform allows Rostelecom to scale and optimize its IT infrastructure. At the same time, load balancing and automatic resource redistribution mechanisms increase the efficiency of equipment use and management of computing resources and data storage.

The platform has built-in encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms, and is certified to the fourth level of trust for compliance with FSTEC requirements for virtualization tools. Basis Dynamix supports an API for integration with external systems and services.

For a successful migration to Basis Dynamix, Rostelecom uses a set of software tools from MIND Software, one of Basis's technology partners. In the context of a complex geographically distributed infrastructure, automation of the procedure has made it possible to achieve a high migration rate — up to 300 virtual servers per week.

Thanks to the use of MIND Software tools, Rostelecom has the opportunity not only to migrate to a domestic platform once, but also to redistribute virtual workloads on an ongoing basis within one or more virtualization clusters.

Kirill Peschany, Vice President, Director of IT Operations and Infrastructure at Rostelecom: "The process of migrating to the Basis Dynamix platform with minimal downtime is critical for most information systems. The simultaneous migration of a large number of virtual machines required automated tools, thanks to which the entire migration project is supported by a team of only ten infrastructure engineers from our side and from the side of technology partners. Manually, this process would have required significantly more time and employees, and would have been much more complex in planning and organization."

David Martirosov, CEO of Basis: "Basis" had the opportunity to consider import substitution both from the vendor's and the customer's side, which allowed us to develop an optimal transition strategy and completely eliminate compatibility issues. The transition of Rostelecom's huge infrastructure with thousands of active services and millions of customers can rightly be considered a large-scale challenge that has become a successful case."
