Apple has announced the iPhone 16e, an affordable version of the iPhone 16, offering users modern technology at a lower price. The new device starts at $599 and combines high performance with advanced features.

Design and Display

iPhone 16e features a 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2532×1170 pixels. Unlike the iPhone 16, which received the "Dynamic Island," the iPhone 16e retains the traditional notch. The screen brightness reaches 1200 nits in HDR mode (compared to 1600 nits on the iPhone 16). Two body colors are available – black and white.

Performance and Battery Life

The new device is powered by the A18 processor with a 4-core graphics chip, ensuring fast and smooth operation. Thanks to the energy-efficient Apple C1 modem, the iPhone 16e can play video for up to 26 hours without recharging, which even surpasses the iPhone 16. Charging is supported via USB-C with 20W power. However, the model is not compatible with MagSafe and only supports Qi wireless charging.

Camera

Unlike the iPhone 16, which has two cameras, the iPhone 16e features a single 48-megapixel main camera with 2x optical zoom. The device lacks an ultra-wide-angle lens, which limits shooting capabilities. Also, the iPhone 16e does not have Cinematic Mode and Action Mode for video recording.

Connectivity and Additional Features

The smartphone supports 5G networks, but without mmWave technology, which may affect mobile internet speeds in certain regions. Also, the iPhone 16e does not have an Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip, which is present in the iPhone 16. Both devices received an "Action" button for quickly launching functions, but the iPhone 16e does not have the "Camera Control" button available in the higher-end model.
