Отечественные отраслевые решения на базе защищённой платформы SharxDC

An event by OCS and Sharx Data Center, a Russian manufacturer of hyperconverged solutions. It is dedicated to reviewing ready-made fault-tolerant infrastructure blocks with industry solutions such as Automated Control Systems / 112 based on the SharxDC infrastructure.

Today's program includes a presentation on SharxDC solutions: a brief description of the product and its applicability; turnkey micro data centers; and a discussion of ready-made software and hardware complexes.

Speaker from the vendor: Pavel Filin, Head of Technical Sales Support, Leading Consultant.

SharxDataCenter has been on the market since 2016, creating turnkey infrastructure platforms with domestic virtualization. It is responsible for the quality of the virtualization platform's operation for the customer, who receives a platform ready for operation. With us, you can skip the pilot project stages, pre-sales preparation stages, and some other stages of work.

Our experience shows that after the equipment is installed, after a few hours of software installation, as soon as the system signals with green lights that everything is in order, it means it is fault-tolerant and fully ready for operation.

The software itself is built in such a way that customers do not have to worry about infrastructure failures, because the system has a self-healing function. It redistributes data itself, restarts virtual machines itself, redistributes data from disks, and so on. The system is built to support possible multiple failures, so it performs well in remote and closed sites. In short, we have a system built on a hyperconverged solution, i.e., only servers, switches, and storage are needed. On the left, we have a set of hardware, and on the right, you get a self-management portal that has everything.

There is virtual network management, there is work with virtual machines, and then the software itself will do everything. That is, in fact, it requires a minimum amount of attention, it will work even without administration, that is, even without an administrator who connects to the system for a year and a half and observes that nothing undesirable happens to it.

We are good at building turnkey micro data centers, when, for example, a ready-made cabinet with engineering infrastructure inside comes to you, that is, with uninterrupted power supply, with network connectivity, and so on. The infrastructure based on server-switches is already installed there, and you only turn on the network power, i.e., only electricity. Your micro data center is already ready for operation and, accordingly, it has the entire set of necessary components that are needed for the operation of a production system. It works and it is fault-tolerant. There is platform-independent backup and external data storage. As for industry solutions, we try to regularly maintain contact with developers of various hardware and software, we are constantly certified with them. I will now announce two software developers with whom we recently received certification for mutual compatibility.

This is "ISKRA Technologies," which prepares solutions, for example, "System-112," that is, we are tested and certified for placing "System-112" on our infrastructures.

Therefore, if a government agency is planning to implement this system, then we, together with "ISKRA Technologies," are ready to deploy this "System-112" on a fault-tolerant infrastructure. Here is another interesting example. Just recently, we completed testing the system of Astra Vegu, we, together with this company, act as a united front, so the customer receives an automated control system from our company and from Astra Regu. And everything that concerns the IT component, that is, all computing services, all logging, and everything else is located on our base. And thus, the customer receives a ready-made "box" that completely covers all his tasks.

In principle, we try to get certified proactively, within the framework of the project, and this is one of our projects. We conduct testing in parallel. That is, we are actively cooperating with "ISKRA Technologies" and "Prosoft" to expand the range and software that can be placed on the basis of our infrastructure solution.

Well, and then I would just like to remind you that the infrastructure solution itself acts as a project, but nevertheless, our company is always responsible for the final result received by the customer. Yes, of course, we do not participate in deliveries, there will naturally be another supplier here, but, I repeat, our company is always directly responsible for the final result.

There are customers who have a fairly extensive infrastructure and its server part, in this case we are only responsible for the software part of the project, but nevertheless we will also always be fully responsible for the final result that the customer will receive as a result.

Now I will briefly remind you about the history of our company. It has been around since 2016. And then we will dwell to some extent on our landmark projects. In 2017, we completed a project to create a cloud infrastructure for the logistics services platform of PJSC "Transtelecom." In 2018, we registered the Sharx Base virtualization platform in the register of software of the Ministry of Digital Development and received an FSTEC certificate for compliance with the requirements of NDV-4, security of ISPDn-1 and GIS-1. In 2019, we completed a project to modernize the M4 infrastructure. In 2020, we participated in the project to create the infrastructure of the Central Ring Road and in the project to create the infrastructure of the Federal State Institution Rosdormonitoring. Registered the VDI connection broker Sharx Desk in the Software Register of the Ministry of Digital Development. In 2021, we implemented a project to create the infrastructure of the Stankin University and registered the Sharx Store software-defined data storage in the Software Register of the Ministry of Digital Development. We reissued the FSTEC of Russia certificate for compliance with the requirements of UD-4, GIS-1, ISPDn-1, KII-1. In 2022, we participated in the project to create the data center infrastructure of the ITS of the Samara agglomeration. We also carried out a set of measures to certify the ITS of the Central Ring Road for security requirements. We reissued the FSTEC of Russia certificate for mass production. And in 2023, we made a project to create the infrastructure of the M12 highway (Moscow – Kazan).

Our system works successfully and the uptime without failure is measured in years.

Question. Our external storage systems are not connected directly to your platform.

Answer. Our platform itself is a data storage system. This is a distributed storage system. External data storage systems are not used by us. They can only be an extension for guest operating systems. Or, for example, as in our classic infrastructure, we suggest using a cold file archive. It is available for guest operating systems, we also need it. We do not consider connecting external data storage systems. There are other products on the market that provide this.

Question. How are you doing with online virtual machine migration?

Answer. In the domestic market, as far as I know, there is only one manufacturer that provides online migration from any platform. We are their OEM partner, and moreover, we have repeatedly tested this system, and most importantly, we have carried out its combat implementation. We had working projects when we installed the system for customers on their hardware complex and at the same time migrated virtual machines online in several stages, and then carried out switching. Moreover, there is now a new Mind Guard product that will provide asynchronous replication from the guest operating system, from one platform to another, with which we also have support.

The main story with our platform is this. The platform itself is universal. We even have a self-service portal, when some user creates some virtual machines from ready-made templates in order to do this within their authority. Well, these are just details. The main story is this. The system is completely autonomous, managed from one point, and we automatically restart all virtual machines when anything fails. Therefore, we do not have dedicated roles, since anything can fail, but this does not affect anything.

As for my term "data center," this is certainly not a data center in its usual sense, we certainly do not have a data center, but a rack, cabinet, or micro data center. This is a kind of cabinet that has uninterrupted guaranteed power and a ready-made infrastructure, you only need to connect Ethernet and electricity to it. We, of course, do not produce the cabinets themselves, but our partners even have cabinets with cooling, that is, cabinets with a built-in air conditioner. We ourselves do not supply anything, we act as a vendor, as a manufacturer, and at the same time we act as a single support window. And then we ourselves organize, accordingly, relationships with suppliers of racks, server equipment, and so on, from the point of view of fulfilling the SLA for support. But we act in the first support window. That is, if we supply a complex solution, then we are accordingly fully responsible for it.
