К 2027 году рынок open source превысит $50 миллиардов

By 2025, two-thirds of Russian companies plan to switch to domestic software. The Unified Register of Software of the Ministry of Digital Development includes 56 operating systems. The market has entered the stage of real import substitution – inevitable after the departure of Western vendors. Developers are recording an increase in demand for Russian OSs. For example, in the past year alone, the new Russian operating system Uncom OS sold more than 40,000 licenses.

According to Nikita Kocherzhenko, CEO and founder of Uncom OS, users have begun to understand that it is necessary to look for an alternative to Windows that will protect them from sanctions, blockages, and viruses, on the one hand, and on the other hand, will not spoil the user experience, will not reduce, but often increase labor productivity and will support Legacy Windows: that is, the programs that they used on Windows.

According to forecasts, by 2027, the open source market will exceed $50 billion (a couple of years ago it was $25 billion). IT giants are investing in it, including in Russia. At the end of 2023, Yandex launched a grant program for open source projects. These measures together will help transfer 90% of Russian companies to Russian software by 2026.
