The patent was issued by the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent).

The Yandex Cloud security team patented a technology for unifying clouds deployed in different regions. According to Yandex, the new approach allows for secure and convenient management of resources in various geographical regions, complying with local laws and reducing the risks of cyber incidents.

The solution is based on a multi-regional architecture that ensures security and isolation of regions. Users can "seamlessly" switch between regions while maintaining the independence of each. Yandex explained:

Cloud platforms allow resources to be hosted in different regions – geographical locations where the provider's data centers are located. Typically, platform architecture is built either on a single organization, a tenant, for all regions, or on completely isolated regional clouds. The first approach is convenient for clients but increases the risks of incidents because regions are not isolated. The second ensures high security but complicates administration.

According to Evgeny Sidorov, Director of Information Security at Yandex Cloud, the new architecture will help companies simplify the management of regional resources while maintaining their independence.
