The company "Basalt SPO" has released an update to the operating system "Alt Education" 11.1, which now allows connecting to a secure network with an ESPD certificate. The new version adds the function of selecting sets of educational programs at the installation stage or during operation using the "Alt Components" utility. The programs are grouped by levels of education — from preschool to higher education, including specialized solutions for teachers and additional education.

Users can choose one of the desktop environments — KDE Plasma for modern devices or Xfce for computers with limited resources. During installation, you can install the ESPD certificate, which simplifies connecting to a secure network after setting up a proxy.

Software updates include security and stability improvements for Veyon 4.9.7, performance and scalability improvements for OpenBoard 1.7.3, an update to TRIK Studio 2025.4 in accordance with the requirements of the informatics Olympiad, as well as full localization of GNU Octave 11.1 into Russian. In addition, Calibre 8.4 adds full support for the KEPUB format, and Thunderbird 145 fixes vulnerabilities and improves user settings.

Since 2024, "Basalt SPO" has been participating in a project to provide technological support for state exams, where the "Alt" OS is used to prepare and process exam materials. Academic licenses for the "Alt Education" OS are available for educational organizations, and the system is free for home use.
