Astra Linux 1.8.5 Released: New Performance Kernel Profile, Network Connection Control, and Virtualization Tools Development

Enhanced security for removable media and network connections.

"Astra Group" has released an operational update, Astra Linux 1.8.5, which improves performance and security, and expands the toolkit for administrators.

Astra Linux 1.8.5 introduces a new Performance kernel settings profile, increasing system performance. The previously available Generic and Hardened profiles have also been expanded, giving administrators more options for controlling kernel parameters.

Security for removable media and network connections has been enhanced. It is now possible to assign integrity labels to USB devices, which improves their security. The ability to filter Wi-Fi networks and manage VLAN settings has been added.

Virtual machine administration capabilities have been significantly expanded. Virt-Manager now includes a function for cloning virtual machine disks in storage pools and quick access to virtual machine consoles in full-screen mode.

RDP session scenarios have been improved: support for modern cameras and microphones has been added, printer redirection has been implemented, and smart card authentication has been enhanced.

In the desktop edition of the OS, the convenience of working with files and programs has been increased. The file manager now features office document preview and displays trash content in table mode. Astra Linux Server now supports immutable mode, which reduces the risks of unauthorized changes and administration errors.
