"Somers", part of the Softline group of companies, is among the first developers of cashless solutions to support the "Volna" technology from the National Payment Card System. The company's software now allows accepting contactless payments on POS terminals via Bluetooth.
Softline views "Volna" as an alternative to Apple Pay. The company said:
This opens up a new way for banks and partner retailers to work with payments without relying on NFC. This project is in line with Softline Group's strategy to replace foreign IT manufacturers and distributors.
The "Volna" technology was developed and patented by NSPK. The tool allows the terminal to transmit a payment link via Bluetooth. When a phone approaches the terminal to a distance of up to 20 cm, the application picks up the Bluetooth signal, receives the data for payment and prompts the buyer to confirm the transaction. Payment is made through the Faster Payments System.
"Somers" finalized the proprietary payment application, and then tested the stability of transmission and correct operation with different device models. The "Somers" team invites interested banks to participate in pilot projects.
