In the spring of 2025, the LG educational marathon "Creating the Future of Communications" became a large-scale platform, uniting mentorship, art, volunteerism, and donation. It gathered spring activities under the aegis of the Baltic Educational Marathon and the 117th LG Electronics Donor Day with honorary guests, a family couple of outstanding people: Olympic figure skating champion, Roman Kostomarov with his wife Oksana Domnina (world champion in ice dancing), whose story of devotion, immense strength of spirit embodies the victory over circumstances.
The program began with an online lecture for the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI", continued with a series of events in Pskov, St. Petersburg (lecture at LETI and event at the Mariinsky Theatre), Kaliningrad, and ended with the 117th Donor Day, held at the Moscow office of LG Electronics with the support of the Blood Center of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia.
The culmination of the marathon was a meeting with young people in the Mariinsky Theatre, bringing together teachers and students from the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI" named after V.I. Ulyanov (Lenin), St. Petersburg State Institute of Film and Television, students of BSTU "VOENMEH" named after D.F. Ustinov and SPbPU Peter the Great, as well as representatives of the "Blood Service" and the "Red Cross". This event was a continuation of a series of lectures and master classes organized by LG for young people in various cities of the North-West region. One of the highlights of this meeting was the presentation of the book "Reflections on Life" by the President of LG in Russia and the CIS countries, Mr. YoungNam Roh. This collection of poems, published by the Russian publishing house "Eksmo", includes works in Korean and Russian, touching on the themes of donation, family and life values.
As part of the Baltic Marathon lectures, Senior Director of LG for Public Relations and ESG Projects Tatyana Shakhnes shared her experience in developing corporate social responsibility, emphasizing the special role of the company's donation initiatives. She noted how social responsibility is organically integrated into the strategy of big business and why donation has become an important element of LG's global corporate culture.
Tatyana also noted that it is thanks to the involvement of young people that corporate projects get a new lease of life. These meetings were not only educational, but also deeply personal: the transmission of memory through the fates of people awakened a sense of belonging in the younger generation. Special attention was paid to the All-Russian action "Donor Code. Defenders of the Fatherland", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. The action is organized by the National Health Development Fund together with the Coordination Council under the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on blood donation and bone marrow, the Federal Medical-Biological Agency and the All-Russian public organization "Russian Red Cross".
The final point of the Baltic Marathon was the 117th Donor Day at the Moscow office of LG Electronics. This action, timed to coincide with the National Donor Day, was held in a warm, family atmosphere. An important symbolic gesture was the participation of not only LG employees, but also their children, which reflected the main theme of the marathon — "Connection of Generations". Students of the Russian State University for the Humanities, teachers and schoolchildren from Nekrasovka, as well as representatives of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteer Medics" joined the initiative. The presence of important guests — Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov and his wife, world champion Oksana Domnina, gave a special emotional strength to the event. Roman's personal story of overcoming a difficult test and surviving, including thanks to donated blood, became an inspiration for the participants of the action. His words that "there are no impassable barriers for a person" became a kind of motto of the entire marathon.
