London, February 20, 2025 - Ahead of MWC25 Barcelona, GSMA Intelligence has released a study indicating radical changes in the global economy. According to the report "Economic Growth and Digital Transformation of Enterprises - 2025," modern mobile technologies and digital transformation will add $11 trillion to global GDP by 2030, accounting for 8.4% of the total. This is a significant increase compared to $6.5 trillion (5.8% of GDP) in 2024, confirming the growing role of digital technologies in transforming various industries.
Leading Industries of Digital Transformation
The GSMA Intelligence study indicates that the manufacturing sector, financial services, automotive, and aviation industries will make the largest contribution to GDP growth, jointly accounting for 34% of the projected effect by 2030. Increased use of advanced technologies and mobile communications will lead to significant cost savings and revenue growth for enterprises.
Manufacturing Sector
- Manufacturing accounts for 23% of global GDP and faces challenges such as supply chain disruptions and the need to comply with environmental standards.
- The use of IoT, robotics, and big data analytics will increase the sector's contribution to GDP by $2.1 trillion.
- The implementation of 5G and related technologies will help manufacturers save $400 billion annually by 2030.
Financial Services
- The financial services sector accounts for 7% of global GDP and is actively implementing cloud computing, AI, and blockchain.
- The expected GDP growth from the sector's digitalization is $900 billion.
- Advanced communication technologies will accelerate data analysis and the launch of new products, increasing the sector's revenue by $140 billion by 2030.
Automotive Industry
- The automotive sector, which accounts for 3% of global GDP, is actively implementing electric vehicle, autonomous driving, and connected car technologies.
- The digitalization of the industry will add nearly $600 billion to global GDP.
- The use of 5G in smart factories and autonomous transport will provide savings of $45 billion annually.
Aviation Industry
- Aviation, which accounts for 1% of global GDP, uses digital technologies to improve operational efficiency and enhance passenger service.
- Digital transformation will increase the sector's contribution to GDP by $200 billion.
- 5G-based solutions will allow airports to save up to $10 billion annually through IoT and AI systems.

According to the report, 85% of enterprises consider 5G a critical element of their digital transformation strategy. High data transfer rates, minimal latency, and extensive device connectivity enable process automation, AI implementation, and IoT utilization.
