ВТБ запускает возможность оплаты по биометрии через СБПэй

Now, VTB clients can link biometric payment to their account in the SBPey mobile application. Currently, biometric payments can be made in the Kazan Metro. In the future, this type of contactless payment is planned to appear in transport in other cities and in various retail outlets across the country.

To start paying for purchases by face, VTB clients need to register their biometrics at a bank branch or in the "Gosuslugi Biometria" application, connect biometrics to their VTB account in the SBPey application, and give VTB consent to process biometric personal data.

"Payment for goods and services using biometric technologies is the innovative future of domestic fintech. With instant payments, it allows you to receive services seamlessly – the client doesn't even need to think about paying for a product or service: taking a bank card out of their pocket or holding their phone to the terminal. The use of VTB, NPCS, and CBT technologies guarantees payment security and user data protection," said Sergey Bezbogov, Deputy Head of the Technology Block — Senior Vice President of VTB.

"VTB's biometric services are among the most developed in the Russian market. This allows us to make biometric services more accessible to Russians. The ability to pay or enter events or buildings using biometrics and other services will be integrated into an increasing number of different areas of life — and in the near future, most actively in trade and transport," noted Nikita Chugunov, Senior Vice President of VTB, Head of the Digital Business Department.

"Biometric payment takes only a few seconds. A person simply needs to look at a specialized terminal, after which the purchase amount will be debited. This is a simple and secure customer journey that will change the country's payment market. Thanks to the developed cross-bank solution based on the infrastructure of the NPCS and the Center for Biometric Technologies, any bank in the country can connect to biometric acquiring, and their clients can pay for purchases in a new contactless way. Together with VTB, we will continue to develop this project," commented Maxim Krukelis, Director of the Operational and Technological Department, Member of the Board of the National Payment Card System.
