ВТБ отказался от американской системы виртуализации в пользу российских разработок

VTB acquired a package of licenses for the Basis Workplace solution from the Russian developer Basis for most of the bank's employees. As part of the contract, Basis IT specialists will support the solution until the end of 2025. T1 Integration (part of Holding T1) is working on migrating users to the domestic solution.

«The virtualization system is a necessary element for organizing the work of employees in corporations with an extensive IT infrastructure and a branched retail network. One of these corporations is, without a doubt, VTB. Such systems allow you to establish access to server capacities for a large number of employees – including those who work remotely, or use portable devices to work with clients. For example, employees in bank branches who serve clients using a work laptop. Without a virtualization solution installed on it, this laptop will not be able to connect to the bank's internal services. We started testing the Basis Workplace solution back in 2023, it was extremely important for us to ensure its reliability and uninterrupted operation. We expect to complete the main stages of employee migration to it by the end of 2024,» – said Vadim Kulik, Deputy President and Chairman of the VTB Board.

«A huge infrastructure, increased requirements for its availability and scalability, a professional team that you need to be on par with – all this became a challenge for us as a supplier of system software in the VTB project. We coped with this challenge and successfully replaced the Citrix solution in the bank's infrastructure, but not only that – we also gained new relevant experience and at the same time made our product better. Those wishes for Basis Workplace, which the VTB team formed for us following the tests, led to the release of a new version of the product that meets the most stringent customer requirements. The experience gained on this project will allow us to offer solutions and services of a higher quality to the entire Russian market,» – commented David Martirosov, CEO of Basis.

«The project to replace the virtual workplace system is a logical continuation of the project to combine several virtual workplace (VWP) systems that the bank inherited in VTB after the first mergers with other banks. After successfully transferring all users to a single VWP system, the VTB team gained tremendous experience, which greatly helps in the current project. One of the important features of this project is that we managed to launch the Basis Workplace solution on the VTB.Cloud platform. We have developed a special hardware and software configuration for the VTB.Cloud platform that is easily scalable and has all the advantages of a cloud solution. This allowed the Basis solution to organically fit into the existing infrastructure and processes of VTB Bank,» – said Nikolai Shutkin, Deputy Head of Infrastructure Development Department - Vice President of VTB.

Basis Workplace is the flagship product of the ecosystem of the Russian developer of system software Basis, designed to create and manage the infrastructure of virtual workplaces. The platform automates the life cycle of virtual desktops and terminal servers, allows you to prepare and configure a stable virtual environment using your own agent.
