On October 8, PALMIRA ISTRA RESORT hosted the award ceremony for the laureates of the "Best Eco-Practices of Russia" (ECO BEST) award. Among the companies recognized this year are the Moscow Government, SUE "Moscow Metro", SBER, Siberian Wellness, Greenworks, MOSKVARIUM, "Energy of Development" of Rosatom State Corporation, Tatneft gas station network, MTS, FM Logistic. Their projects, like other initiatives of the award participants, show how diverse the application points for environmental solutions can be today – and how far this agenda has gone beyond individual environmental protection actions.
In particular, environmental principles are increasingly penetrating a sphere directly related to the quality of urban life. Here, not only the appearance of public spaces matters, but also how they are maintained daily – what equipment is used, what load it creates, and how much the process itself complies with modern requirements for the urban environment.
"We are creating a future where urban spaces are maintained with a focus on clean energy and modern environmental standards. As part of the project, we not only plant trees and provide battery-powered equipment, but also demonstrate a new approach to urban environment maintenance – more environmentally friendly, quieter, and more comfortable for residents. We want attention to be paid not only to the city's appearance but also to the quality of its daily maintenance. The use of battery-powered equipment helps reduce noise pollution and make the urban environment more comfortable," noted Rada Rozhitskaya, CEO of Greenworks.
This example is important not only from the perspective of specific technology. It shows how the focus of the environmental agenda itself is changing: the object of attention is not a separate environmental initiative, but a familiar process that can be made more rational and comfortable without changing its main purpose.
A similar logic is evident in other segments. Companies are rethinking approaches to production and resource use, seeking more effective technological solutions, and working with materials and products. At the same time, the environmental component is increasingly linked to tasks that businesses solve even without the "eco" prefix: efficiency, product quality, process optimization, and consumer expectations.
It is here that the most noticeable shift in the perception of environmental responsibility occurs. It ceases to be exclusively a reputational story or an additional brand characteristic. For businesses, it becomes more important whether a specific solution can change a real process – reduce the load, increase resource efficiency, change the way technology is operated, or make the environment more comfortable.
At the same time, the role of the consumer itself is changing. Environmental solutions become part of their direct experience, which means their value is increasingly determined not by the complexity of the technology, but by a clear result. The fewer additional efforts a person needs to use a more environmentally friendly solution, the more naturally it integrates into everyday life.
Against this background, the "Best Eco-Practices of Russia" award records an interesting stage in the development of the environmental agenda: today it is increasingly at the intersection of technology, business, and quality of life.
