Smart Engines has updated its "Sherlock" document scanner, adding interactive prompts for self-service terminal users. Now, the system not only recognizes documents and verifies their authenticity but also explains what prevents identification and suggests specific actions.
If a document is incorrectly positioned in the frame, not pressed firmly enough against the surface, or if another page is required, the user receives a corresponding prompt in real-time. This allows them to correct the error independently without repeated blind attempts or contacting an employee.
The solution is based on a Russian scanner and multimodal forensics algorithms. "Sherlock" verifies documents based on more than 600 features, works with printed and handwritten data, analyzes images in optical, ultraviolet, and infrared ranges, reads NFC chips, and supports face matching without biometrics. The system can detect signs of forgery, including photo substitution and document counterfeits.
Processing is performed locally, without an internet connection or GPU usage. Personal data and document images are not transmitted outside the device. The platform supports documents from Russia, CIS countries, BRICS, and other states and is included in the Unified Register of Russian Software.
