In total, 74 applications were received for the award from engineers from 45 companies – from small startups to the largest banks, industrial enterprises, and ecosystems in Russia.
The main idea of the award is to make visible specialists whose work usually remains outside the public eye. Mandatory conditions for participation included the nominee's personal contribution and a working result: concepts without implementation and marketing cases without measurable engineering content were not considered.
23 specialists representing 17 companies and organizations reached the final. The size of the company did not give participants an advantage: the jury primarily evaluated the nominee's personal contribution, originality of approach, complexity of the solved problem, the result obtained, and its scalability.
The finalists presented projects in system architecture, infrastructure, information security, recovery, and new technologies. Among them are solutions for improving cyber resilience, access management, ensuring business continuity of critical processes, working with large volumes of data, and developing corporate platforms.
Engineering Solutions for Corporate Systems
Anton Efimov, Director of the Strategic Projects Architecture Department at GK "Solar", won in the "System Architect" nomination. The jury noted his project on building cyber resilience for "Russian Post".
The project's goal was to combine protection tools, infrastructure, and processes into a single architecture capable of maintaining operability during cyberattacks and other abnormal situations. The project covers the entire IT landscape of the organization, including tens of thousands of branches across the country and critical information infrastructure facilities.
Alexander Chelovekov, Netopia Software Architect, received the "Security Engineer" award. His project is related to the implementation of a network security management system in a large financial organization.
The solution automates network access management: it calculates availability between segments, controls changes in firewall rules, and stores information about who granted access and on what grounds.
Yulia Petrunina, Head of Continuity Practice at ITAT PAO "Gazprom Neft", won in the "Recovery Engineer" nomination.
Her project is dedicated to creating a model for ensuring the continuity of critical processes. It links business processes with IT systems, infrastructure, and recovery scenarios. This approach allows for pre-determining dependencies and the sequence of actions in case of serious failures, and makes recovery a manageable scenario.
Andrey Berezin, leading developer at T-Bank's R&D center, became the winner in the "Innovation Engineer" nomination.
His project on industrial calculation of graph metrics on billion-scale graphs received the award. The developed solution allows performing calculations on data volumes where standard approaches face memory and processing time limitations. The technology has moved beyond a research prototype and is applied to industrial data.
Rushan Mubinov, Executive Director of Sberbank, became the winner in the "Infrastructure Engineer" nomination. The jury noted the project for creating a high-load BPM installation.
The platform is designed for a scale of up to a billion business process launches per quarter.
Development of Engineering Teams and New Practices
Mikhail Tyurganov, Head of Digital Services Department at Alfa-Bank, won in the "Engineering Team Leader" nomination.
He received the award for developing engineering approaches at Alfa-Bank, where about 4000 engineers and about 500 teams work. One example is the migration of a front-office platform with more than 700 business processes accumulated over ten years.
The team used reverse engineering and generative AI to analyze the logic of the existing system and faster transfer processes to the new platform. As a result, work that previously took about three months was reduced to several weeks.
In addition to the winners of the main nominations, the jury awarded a special prize "Experts' Choice". It was received by Daria Taktashova, a backend developer in Go at Avito Tech, for the platform for automatic detection of Shadow IT.
The system finds servers and services that are actually operating within the corporate network but are not in the registries or are incorrectly registered, and then checks them for basic security risks. Upon detecting a problem, the platform automatically assigns a task to the infrastructure owner, monitors its correction, and conducts a re-check.
The projects noted by the jury cover a wide range of engineering tasks: from building cyber-resilient architectures and managing network security to ensuring the continuity of critical processes, industrial data processing, and automatic detection of Shadow IT.
The organizers plan to develop "Engineering Art" as an industry award for recognizing engineering achievements and exchanging practical experience among specialists from Russian companies.
