Russian developer "Basis" presented version 3.4 of the Basis Workplace platform for managing virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). The update introduced application virtualization, the ability to administer multiple installations from a single interface, and a separate tool for migrating from the previous generation of the platform.
In the new version, administrators can centrally assign applications for virtual workplaces and apply these settings to entire pools. This allows for automatic formation of user work environments without manual software installation on each device.
The multi-client mode is designed for infrastructures distributed across branches, data centers, and various perimeters. Switching between installations can be done from a single workstation.
Capabilities for working with personalized pools have been expanded: support for user disks, their transfer between pools, and rebuilding of virtual machines when the original template changes have been added. Installation scenarios for components, certificate management, and the Basis Connect protocol have also been updated.
Basis Connect now includes settings for data transfer direction via the clipboard and information about connected USB devices, smart cards, tokens, and printers. The platform has gained support for Windows 11, Alt 11, and VMware vCenter Server 6.7u3.
For Basis Workplace 2.6.4 users, a tool has been developed to migrate pools to version 3.4 with rollback capability for personal pools. In addition, the update added reports on application launches and connections to terminal pools.
