K2Tech experts conducted laboratory testing of Eltex WEP-550K — the first Russian enterprise access point with Wi-Fi 7 support. Specialists tested the device in scenarios typical for networks with a large number of connections and high traffic volume.
One of the key advantages of the new standard is support for the 6 GHz band, where the WPA3 security protocol is used. The equipment also utilizes MLO technology, allowing simultaneous data transmission across multiple frequency bands. During testing, operation in the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands increased throughput by 65% compared to transmission in only one band.
On a compatible smartphone, the peak speed reached 2 Gbps. At the same time, experts note that for enterprise networks, connection stability under high load and interference is more important than maximum speed under ideal conditions.
WEP-550K supports MU-MIMO 4x4, MLO, 4096-QAM modulation, and channels up to 320 MHz wide. The transition to Wi-Fi 7, according to experts, will be gradual: it will require updating client devices and network infrastructure, including equipment with 2.5 and 5 Gbps ports.
