"Datark" Tested a Modular Data Center with Record Server Rack Load

During the tests, engineers simulated emergency situations and checked the correct operation of the equipment in various modes.

The company "Datark" has completed acceptance tests of a modular data center designed for a load of up to 54 kW per server rack. According to the manufacturer, this figure is approximately 4.5 times higher than the average level, which currently stands at about 12 kW.

The checks were carried out at the company's production site. In the first stage, specialists tested power supply systems, cooling, batteries, and other engineering units, after which they performed comprehensive tests of the facility under full design load. Various abnormal situations were also simulated to assess the stability of equipment operation. All systems successfully passed the tests without critical remarks.

This is the first modular Datark data center designed for a load exceeding 50 kW per rack. For equipment cooling, a "chiller-fan coil" scheme is used with precision in-row air conditioners and ethylene glycol as a coolant.

The company notes a growing interest in infrastructure for high-performance computing. While previously projects with a density of up to 30 kW per rack were implemented, customers are now requesting solutions with a load of up to 140 kW. For such facilities, direct liquid cooling systems for servers are planned to be used.
