Moscow forms a community of IT specialists in the field of open source

“Open code changes the approach to development, and Moscow is already building its own technological platform, MosTech, using open-source solutions. This is a unified environment that combines more than 50 components: development tools, operating systems, office solutions, VKS, infrastructure services, equipment, and secure data centers. The central element of this model is “Mos.Hub” – a cloud platform for developers that combines source code repositories, technical documentation, task tracking, collaborative development tools, and a professional community. We view “Mos.Hub” not just as a technological tool, but as a space where a professional engineering environment is formed and a culture of collaborative development is fostered,” said Alexey Anisimov, Deputy Head of the Department of Information Technologies of the City of Moscow, during the event.

DIT Moscow is developing the open cloud collaborative development platform “Mos.Hub”. The platform is free, and all its components are hosted in a data center in Russia. According to Alexey Anisimov, it was important for the capital not just to develop its own tools, but to form a professional community around them and create an environment for technological interaction. The number of users on “Mos.Hub” has already exceeded 28 thousand, and specialists from more than 80 Russian regions, as well as from Kazakhstan and Belarus, visit the platform. Users have posted over 32 thousand projects on the platform: from software development solutions to applications for crypto protection and payment instruments.

In addition, the industry IT community also got an offline platform at the end of last year – the MosHub.Skolkovo business space. This is a unified environment for open dialogue between leaders of the Russian IT industry, business, society, young specialists, and the city. Significant events for the development of the industry are regularly held here. According to Alexey Anisimov, the goal of the new platform is to jointly implement innovative solutions, accelerate their implementation, and develop the capital's digital ecosystem.

Participants of the “Open Code Day” event discussed the role of Open Source in the development of the domestic IT industry.

Support for the development and implementation of Russian IT solutions corresponds to the objectives of the national project “Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State” and the regional project of the city of Moscow “Domestic Solutions”.
