Astra Cloud on Russian Baikal-S Processors Presented

"Astra Group" announced the upcoming launch of the Astra Cloud service on Russian Baikal-S processors. As the developers emphasized, this is the country's first commercial cloud, entirely developed by domestic specialists, from chip to final service.

The cloud is aimed at critical information infrastructure and ensures complete import independence, which complies with new regulatory requirements coming into force in January 2028.

The key difference of Astra Cloud is the use of Arm architecture, which provides high energy efficiency and performance. This reduces the total cost of ownership and makes cloud solutions more economical compared to traditional x86 solutions.

The service is available in three formats: public cloud, private cloud, and a turnkey hardware and software complex. In the public cloud, companies receive secure infrastructure and applications as a service, allowing them to quickly scale to business needs. The private cloud provides maximum isolation and control over equipment. The hardware and software complex is a ready-made cloud platform that can be deployed within the customer's environment or used by subscription.

In 2026, Astra Cloud on Baikal-S is planned to be supplemented with GPU servers for artificial intelligence tasks and high-performance computing. In addition, a development platform will be provided with code repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and secure development tools.

The service's functionality is currently undergoing final refinement under real loads, and pilot access for selected clients will open by the end of July 2026.
