Russian office suites are practically on par in functionality with Microsoft products, according to a study by ANO "CCIT" (Center of Competencies for Import Substitution in the field of ICT). Experts evaluated domestic solutions, including "My Office" and "P7 Office", according to 703 criteria, including the reference functions of MS Office, technological and operational characteristics, as well as compliance with the requirements of Russian legislation.
About 90% of the 522 MS Office functions are implemented in Russian suites, noted Ilya Massukh, director of ANO "CCIT". Domestic solutions showed good results in performance, slightly inferior to foreign packages only in the spreadsheet editor. However, Russian office suites still lag behind MS Office in integrated technologies such as artificial intelligence, biometrics and automatic translation. At the same time, they meet the criteria of legal and technological independence, reducing risks for users in the Russian market.
The CCIT emphasized that Russian office suites are compatible with both foreign and domestic operating systems and microprocessor platforms, unlike MS Office, which does not support Russian OS. They are also compatible with electronic document management systems, communication software and mail applications.
Russian companies that own office suites provide users with technical support, information on update policies, and operating documentation in Russian. The development of "My Office" and P7 Office is based on a fully controlled core code, independent of open source releases.
