The Firebird Conf 2025 program included over 400 minutes of reports, master classes, and practical sessions dedicated to various aspects of designing, administering, and optimizing DBMS. Participants discussed issues of fault tolerance, performance, data migration, working with cluster solutions, and integration with modern IT infrastructures.
Among the presented technological solutions, the new developments of RED SOFT — the "RED Database 5.0" DBMS, the "RED Monitor" monitoring toolkit, and the "RED Expert" database manager — aroused particular interest. These products were demonstrated both at the stands and during sessions with a technical analysis of the functioning features.
The organizers noted the growing interest in Firebird technologies in the professional community. "Firebird Conf 2025 has become an event that brought together professionals from the IT world," commented Rustam Rustamov, Deputy General Director of RED SOFT.
This year, the conference also hosted the first official Firebird Foundation certification of the Firebird DBA Basic level, recognized by the international community. Eight participants successfully passed the interview and received certificates confirming their qualifications. In addition, the "Express DBMS Tuning" competition was held, where participants had to optimize the system's operation with standard settings. The best solutions were awarded diplomas and prizes.
The partner pool of Firebird Conf 2025 included IT companies and training organizations: among them are Medicina IT, SDS, Academy Softline, Training Center FORS, and iDSystems. At their stands, participants had the opportunity to ask questions, get advice, participate in competitions and interactive activities, and learn about specialist training areas.
According to Anna Sobakar from Academy Softline, the careful organization of the space and interaction with the participants contributed to the effective assimilation of information. Alesya Kochetko from FORS said that interest in the exhibition area was consistently high throughout the conference, especially in the areas of training programs and special projects.
Alexander Shaposhnikov from CyfromedLab noted that the preparation of his report began back in January and took place daily.
The topics of the reports covered both applied aspects of development based on Firebird and strategic issues of development: from the history of the project to the prospects of its application in systems processing large amounts of data. Discussions were held on replication, transaction logs, RED Platform updates, and interaction with external storage media.
Participants noted the practical benefits of live communication at the conference — the face-to-face event format provided access to expert knowledge and allowed them to receive feedback on real-world tasks. The topics of replication, query optimization, and working with fault-tolerant systems became an important part of the dialogue between business representatives and DBMS developers.
The event ended with an evening reception and a musical performance. According to the organizers, the informal conclusion of the conference creates additional opportunities for communication and networking. Participants also noted the rare opportunity to hear reports on quantum computing in the context of Firebird — such topics are becoming increasingly relevant in the professional environment.
Firebird Conf 2025 confirmed its role as a significant platform for communication between professionals working with the Firebird DBMS and domestic solutions in this area. The next event is scheduled for 2026.
