Basis SDN is designed for use in various industries. The solution works both in the ecosystem of "Basis" products and in other virtual environments built on the open source KVM hypervisor.
Basis SDN contributes to the achievement of technological sovereignty: most modern domestic switches are essentially standard x86-architecture computers, which is what Basis SDN was created for. The new product will be able to add functionality to domestic switches, turning them into solutions for data centers.
Dashboard Basis SDN
Basis SDN was created in partnership with Angie Software, founded by nginx engineers — a popular web server in the world. Development started in early 2024, preceded by a long stage of analysis and design. The combined team of "Basis" and Angie Software numbered about a hundred network architects, engineers and developers. The new solution has become part of the "Basis" ecosystem. The benchmark for developers was the VMware NSX platform. Already in the first version Basis SDN implemented 80% of the most demanded functionality of a foreign analogue, including multitenancy, microsegmentation and distributed routing.
Basis SDN provides a single point of entry for managing, configuring and monitoring the organization's virtual network infrastructure. Thanks to this, the administrator gets an idea of the state of the networks and can quickly respond to any changes.
The solution supports the creation of complex management scenarios, the design of a network structure for specific tasks, multitenancy, and work with IPv4 and IPv6 traffic.
Basis SDN implements secure connection of applications from several components, as well as the ability to create secure routes and network isolation of components.
The administrator can create and apply security rules for both the entire virtual environment and for specific groups of objects, network interfaces of VMs and pools of IP addresses. Segmentation of the virtual infrastructure allows you to isolate vulnerable or attacked areas, and the role-based access control model reduces internal risks. Additional flexibility is provided by the ability to set the schedule for the start and end of security rules.
Security policy management
Basis SDN provides high bandwidth between virtual segments and supports flexible infrastructure scaling without service interruptions. In case of failures, standard recovery mechanisms are provided.
Russian operating systems Astra Linux and "Alt" are supported, and compatibility with equipment from the largest domestic manufacturers, such as YADRO, Aquarius, OpenYard, "Biforkom", BST, has also been implemented.
