Рынок киберспортивных игр в России может удвоиться к 2028 году и достичь $70–80 млн

Experts predict that this positive trend will continue, and by 2028, the Russian esports gaming market could reach $70–80 million.

Esports remains one of the fastest-growing segments of the gaming industry worldwide. In 2024, its global volume is estimated at $2.4–2.6 billion, compared to $1.6–2.0 billion in 2023.

According to Mikhail Khachaturyan, Associate Professor at the Department of Strategic and Innovative Development of the Financial University, the current growth rates will continue, and by 2028, the global esports gaming market could reach $3.7–4.2 billion.

«The increase in the number of esports competitions will be one of the key drivers of the market. In addition, along with esports, the market for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) will actively develop, as reliable power supply becomes a critical factor in the context of increasing digital loads and technological solutions,» — the expert notes.

Reliable Power Supply — An Important Factor in Esports Success

With the increase in the number of major esports tournaments and the rising cost of gaming computers, there is a need for a stable power supply, especially during important matches.

Kristina Vishnevetskaya, Development Director at Ippon, emphasizes that a power outage during a tournament can lead to multi-million dollar losses:

«Losses in the event of a sudden power outage during a competition can reach millions of dollars. This includes not only the cost of winning the tournament, but also reputational risks.»

Gaming PCs require significantly more power than standard office workstations. The average power of power supplies is 600 W, and for professional gaming systems and streaming stations, this figure is significantly higher.

«Some gaming PCs can cost several million rubles. If a power surge or outage occurs during a tournament, a properly selected UPS will not only allow you to complete the game, but also protect the investments of players and organizers,» — concludes Vishnevetskaya.

On January 27, the Russian esports team Team Spirit won the BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 tournament in Copenhagen. In the final, Team Spirit defeated the Turkish team Eternal Fire with a score of 3:1 and earned almost $300,000.

This success confirms that Russian players continue to compete at the world level, despite all the difficulties associated with sanctions and changes in the gaming industry.

The growth in the number of tournaments, investments in infrastructure, and the development of new technological solutions makes esports an important part of the digital economy. At the same time, ensuring uninterrupted power supply becomes a key factor, allowing professional players and competition organizers to avoid serious financial and reputational risks.
