SGS certification focuses on resource efficiency and the presence of hazardous substances, while Intertek measures the percentage of recycled materials used. The organizations' respective approaches promote responsible consumption practices across various industries and contribute to the broader goal of global sustainable development.

Notably, LG OLED's self-lit TVs are attracting significant attention in stringent eco-friendliness evaluations. Unlike LCD TVs, LG OLED TVs do not require backlighting, which translates to a simpler structure and fewer components needed. For example, a 65-inch LG OLED evo, made with lightweight composite fiber, requires only 40 percent of the plastic commonly used in LCD TVs of the same screen size and weighs 20 percent less.

Based on projected sales of LG OLED TVs this year, the total amount of plastic used in LG OLED TVs from 2022 to 2024 is expected to be 45,000 tons less than that of LCD TVs sold during the same period. The reduction in plastic usage will lead to a reduction in carbon emissions of approximately 234,000 tons per year, which is equivalent to the carbon dioxide absorbed by a 30-year-old pine forest. This number accounts for one-third of the area of Seoul or about 31,000 soccer fields.

Recycled plastic accounts for approximately 20% of the plastic used in the production of all LG TVs, including LG OLED TVs, which amounts to approximately 4,000 tons of recycled plastic waste annually.

In addition to its environmental efforts, LG's various ESG initiatives have been highly recognized by reputable organizations. In 2023, LG was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI World) for the twelfth consecutive year. The DJSI World index comprises the top 10% of the 2,500 largest global companies based on their long-term economic, environmental, social, and governance practices. The company's inclusion in this prestigious list for twelve consecutive years is a significant milestone, as LG is the only South Korean company in the Leisure Equipment & Products and Consumer Electronics categories.

Furthermore, LG has received a ‘Comprehensive A grade’ in the ESG evaluation and rating by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS) for three consecutive years, and last year, the company received its fourth consecutive 'A' grade from the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) ESG Ratings.
