RuPost Desktop теперь работает в сторонних Linux-системах

The "RuPost" company (part of Astra Group PJSC) announces the release of a new version of the universal email client for desktop PCs, RuPost Desktop.

Since the release of the first public version of RuPost Desktop, which was released in July this year, a number of new functions have appeared in the product. The key innovation is the expansion of the list of supported operating systems. In addition to Astra Linux OS and Microsoft Windows, third-party Linux platforms have been added. Installation packages are available for them, which can be downloaded from the RuPost website.

Among other important innovations is the colored highlighting of individual letters in the list that are marked with a flag. It is available in both light and dark interface themes and is applied to read letters in both vertical and classic horizontal table views, as well as when displaying search results.

RuPost Desktop includes a redesigned view of the list of letters in a conversation, including highlighting a collapsed conversation when new letters arrive in it. The mechanisms for displaying attachments have been greatly improved. Now the block with their list is located immediately under the subject of the letter, and not under its text, as in previous versions. This allows you to quickly view letters and find attached files. By default, all attachments are immediately visible in this block. In addition, specifically for compatibility with older Microsoft Outlook desktop clients and Exchange servers, the new version of RuPost Desktop now includes automatic unpacking of TNEF format attachments, which look like winmail.dat files in other mail clients and Thunderbird. In turn, the content of TNEF messages is automatically extracted and displayed to the user in the required encoding, as for a regular message.

«RuPost Desktop is not the first product on the Russian market built on the basis of the open source Mozilla Thunderbird. However, the initial focus on the current code of the new generation Thunderbird Supernova in the Soft Fork model allowed us to quickly synchronize with the original code of the project and at the same time build a truly convenient and user-friendly interface focused on the habits of Outlook users, — says Sergey Orlik, Director of Research and Development at RuPost. — RuPost Desktop is developing not only visually, but also "under the hood", with a focus on the needs of corporate users. Extended support for our RuPost mail server and Microsoft Exchange, many visual extensions and a new interface for working with attachments and chains of letters in mail conversations, platform support along with Astra Linux, including other Russian Linux-based OS – all this makes RuPost Desktop an unconditional leader among Russian desktop mail clients».

«Email has always been and remains the most important tool for corporate communications. We continue to develop the universal RuPost Desktop mail client and strive to provide our users with modern, convenient, high-performance, reliable and secure software for working with letters, calendars and address books. I would especially like to note the increase in the number of supported operating systems. Today, many customers are moving along the path of import substitution, switching from foreign OS to open ones, primarily to Russian Linux distributions. Many have already implemented new platforms, and now they will not have to change them in order to use our product», — comments Mikhail Gellerman, General Director of RuPost.
