What is VTB Cash Register and how does it work?
It is a set of solutions for merchant acquiring: a 3-in-1 smart terminal (online cash register, fiscal drive, and barcode scanner) with built-in software, as well as a mobile application for accepting payments, fiscalizing payments, and managing orders on a smartphone. The solution was developed in collaboration with VTB's partner, LIFE PAY.
VTB Cash Register is installed in stores and other points of sale of goods and services, allowing it to accept all types of payments: cash, card, and SBP QR codes. The mobile phone solution is based on SoftPOS technology, which allows accepting cashless payments on Android devices with NFC technology. Simply bring the customer's card or smartphone to the seller's smartphone.
How it works on smart terminals
The terminal connection process is simple and does not require any additional actions from the client: you leave a request at a bank branch or in the VTB Business online bank. At a convenient time, an engineer arrives with a pre-configured device and connected acquiring. At the point of sale, you only need to complete the cash register registration procedure with the Federal Tax Service using a CEP (qualified electronic signature). VTB provides CEP to its clients free of charge when they contact the office. After that, the owner of the VTB Cash Register can accept payments in accordance with all legal requirements, generate receipts for customers, and keep records and analytics of the business.
How it works on smartphones
The service that allows accepting payments using a smartphone is called VTB-SoftPOS. For fiscalization of transactions, the "hardware" VTB Cash Register installed in the store (the 3-in-1 terminal mentioned above) or a cloud-based cash register located in the Data Processing Center (DPC) is used for remote payment fiscalization. When accepting payment by smartphone, the receipt is sent to the customer via SMS or email. The solution is especially relevant for couriers and field employees who accept payments, as well as consultants in large retail chains and hypermarkets. An unlimited number of smartphones with SoftPOS installed can be connected to one "mother" cash register, which reduces the cost of purchasing and maintaining a fleet of equipment, as well as making payment acceptance faster and more convenient.
At the same time, installing and starting to work with the application does not take much time. Simply contact the bank to apply for the product and connect to the VTB Cash Register terminal or cloud-based cash register. You will need 2 applications to work: "VTB-Kassa" and "VTB SoftPOS", which can be downloaded from RuStore. "VTB-Kassa" allows you to keep operational records and sales analytics, "VTB SoftPOS" performs the function of accepting payments and turns on when a card is brought to the smartphone. The "VTB-Kassa" application is activated via a code-password that comes in an SMS, "VTB SoftPOS" is activated automatically. After installing and activating the applications, you will need to fill in the company information and start accepting payments.
Software functionality
Accepting payments
VTB Cash Register on a smart terminal and in the format of a mobile phone application allows you to accept payments in all ways: cash, card, through the Faster Payments System. A separate payment method is also available, when part of the amount can be withdrawn from one card, part from another card, or paid in cash. In this case, a receipt will be generated for the total amount.
Payment fiscalization
The fiscalization function in VTB Cash Register is implemented:
— on smart terminals
Smart terminals are equipped with fiscal drives for 15 and 36 months (depending on the characteristics and organizational and legal form of doing business), support automatic sending of fiscal data to the tax authorities, and print receipts for customers.
— when accepting payments by smartphone
The cash register function in the mobile application is carried out by connecting to a "hardware" or cloud-based VTB Cash Register. In the first case, the application automatically sends transaction data to the mother VTB Cash Register for further fiscalization. The cloud-based cash register transmits all purchase data to the DPC, and from there to the OFD and the tax authorities. An unlimited number of employees can be connected to the application and cash register (both the mother VTB Cash Register and the cloud-based one) (depending on the tariff) and save on the purchase of fiscal registrars for each workplace, receipt tape, and the process of registering additional equipment in the OFD.
Working with the catalog and labeled products
The ability to work with a product catalog, which can be integrated with inventory and accounting systems, such as "1C", also contributes to increasing the speed of processes. Integration allows you to upload the current product catalog to the application in a few clicks. A sales report for a certain period is also automatically transferred to "1C" to reconcile inventory accounting.
The VTB Cash Register solution is constantly being improved based on market needs and regulatory requirements. When working with labeling at the point of sale, you can use the scanner built into the terminal or connect an external scanner via Bluetooth: this will speed up the cashier's work if the product range in the catalog includes several dozen items.
The VTB-Kassa application also supports scanning and labeling of products in accordance with all the rules of FFD 1.2 and the "Honest Sign" system: the application catalog takes into account data on the labeling of those goods for which it is mandatory. The application automatically opens the Data matrix code scanning screen. Information about the sale is sent to the "Honest Sign" and removes this product from circulation.
Analytics
Equipment (both VTB Cash Register smart terminals and applications) is displayed in the personal account. This makes it possible to instantly receive information from all connected sources and devices — in real time, customers have access to ready-made reports on various parameters: sales, orders, returns, fiscal receipts and average receipt in the context of each employee, device, branch, transaction. Customizable functionality is also available to control the work of employees.
The manager can give the employee access to change the position in the order. This is especially true for businesses focused on courier delivery: field employees can change positions in the order themselves and remove unnecessary ones — the amount will be automatically adjusted. The reverse principle of operation is also possible: the manager or supervisor can disable the editing function at any time if they suspect suspicious actions on the part of remote workers. This minimizes the risks of substitution of order items or their intentional inaccurate cancellation.
Accounting
VTB Cash Register can be integrated with accounting systems: for example, with solutions for business automation and accounting (1C: Accounting, 1C: Retail, 1C: Trade Management, "Produman", U-ON.Travel, YClients). Integrations allow you to work in a "single window" mode and not switch to third-party systems and programs when working: for example, create a sale in the CRM window and immediately accept payment on a smart terminal, to which the created order is automatically transferred, and then issue a receipt to the client, which will automatically load into the system. This allows you to speed up the work of employees and reduce the number of errors that occur during manual entry. The software can also be linked to another business management system via an open API.
Target audience
The solution from VTB is relevant for all areas and types of business.
A smart terminal is suitable for a point of sale (in which, according to the law, there must be a cash register at the time of settlement).
The VTB-SoftPOS service is suitable for businesses that use several sales channels. This is a cost-effective solution for companies that focus on delivery and mobile commerce — logistics and courier companies, HoReCa with the ability to order dishes from restaurants, online stores, etc.
For large retail chains and hypermarkets, VTB-SoftPOS can be a cost-effective solution for increasing customer loyalty — flexible and fast payment methods will minimize the likelihood of a queue at the checkout and refusal to purchase, especially optional ones.
Using the application for accepting payments on sellers' smartphones, you can offer the client to make a purchase directly in the hall. This will work great for clothing stores and showrooms, where consultants can accept payment for the items that have come up right next to the fitting room. For large hypermarkets and retailers, consultants can also accept payment in the hall if the client has several products that do not require weighing and packaging. Such a customer experience does not allow the buyer to change their mind if they will be looking for a cash register for a long time or standing in line.
What are the rates?

2. VTB Cash Register is also available in installments. With the first payment, the client pays about half the cost of the service, and the rest of the amount is paid monthly in fixed installments.
