The Yandex team has released a new version of its branded Yandex Browser for organizations 25.4.1. Now, you can manage master password settings in the password manager. As a reminder, the master password protects the storage of all passwords saved in Yandex Browsers by employees. This is convenient because instead of many passwords, an employee only needs to remember one. In addition, the master password provides additional encryption for the password storage.
By default, the use of a master password in the browser is optional. The manager will work without it. In light mode, the browser will remind the employee to set a master password, but they can ignore the suggestion and continue using the password manager without a master password. In strict mode, after activating the policy, the browser will require a master password to be set and will refuse to save any passwords until this happens. In addition, all previously saved passwords will be deleted after 14 days.
Another important policy in the new version of the browser is YandexBrowserAPISettings. It allows you to specify a list of pages and extensions that can access the organization's JavaScript API (and, accordingly, the data of services that can be obtained through such APIs).
The DeveloperToolsAvailabilityUrls policy allows you to specify a list of URLs on which the "Developer Tools" function will be available in the browser. This is useful if you want employees to only access the "under the hood" of strictly defined web pages.
