«Базис» представляет обновленный Basis Dynamix Cloud Control

The Basis Dynamix Cloud Control solution is suitable for government and commercial organizations with an extensive network of regional offices, for companies with complex infrastructure and a large number of internal services, as well as for cloud providers providing services under the IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, K8SaaS models. Basis Dynamix Cloud Control allows the customer to manage a federal network of virtual data centers from a single panel.

Infrastructure stability and data security

In Basis Cloud Control 5.1, tools for deploying and managing high-availability clusters have appeared.

Additional stability is provided by a new mechanism for controlling mandatory versions of the orchestrator, which automatically checks the compatibility of components, thereby reducing the risk of failure when updating the system. Orchestrator installation and update logs are now collected in a file.

Also, an advanced backup system with the ability to specify specific dates in the schedule has been implemented in Basis Dynamix Cloud Control, and logs have been optimized.

Flexible network infrastructure management

With the new version of Basis Dynamix Cloud Control, you can flexibly manage the speed of Internet traffic for virtual machines — this helps to allocate the required bandwidth for important services and optimize the cost of communication channels. UDP traffic balancing has also been added for the largest virtualization platforms: the Russian Basis Dynamix Enterprise and the foreign VMware vSphere.

Launch and management of PaaS services

Basis Dynamix Cloud Control 5.1 implements support for ordering and deploying platform services (PaaS) on Basis Dynamix and VMware vSphere. Demand for such solutions in Russia is growing: according to iKS-Consulting, in 2024 the PaaS segment increased by 59% to almost 33 billion rubles and is gradually catching up with IaaS. “Platform-as-a-service” allows you not to waste time deploying, configuring and maintaining servers, installing OS, etc. It is enough to rent an already configured platform, for example, with a deployed database or monitoring tools, and you can start working.

Automated management is available to Basis Cloud Control customers:

  • Kubernetes clusters, including selecting a template version when ordering a cluster, adding and removing nodes, creating balancers and disks for services
  • S3 object storage, including external MinIO and NetApp StorageGRID object storage systems, including creating buckets, managing objects, and configuring access.

Advanced automation and integration capabilities

The updated Basis Dynamix Cloud Control offers several additional tools for automating administrator tasks, such as deploying virtual machines via config-drive.

In general, to facilitate the work of customer specialists, support for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform/OpenTofu, an open REST API, integration with monitoring systems and a Telegram bot, as well as an SDK in Python and Go for developing solutions for individual tasks are available. These tools can significantly speed up and simplify the deployment of complex infrastructures, as well as integrate Basis Cloud Control with the customer's existing IT solutions ecosystem.

Strengthening security and access control

Release 5.1 implements the display and management of service accounts from the portal interface and automatic assignment of tags for accounts received from LDAP.

In general, Basis Dynamix Cloud Control supports two-factor authentication via phone, email, one-time password and Telegram, integration with LDAP (including Active Directory, FreeIPA, Samba DC) with automatic tag assignment, user action logging and log lifecycle configuration.

Cost optimization and resource management

Basis Dynamix Cloud Control 5.1 provides tools for setting resource limits on projects and clients, flexible pricing for resource consumption in various time intervals, automatic generation of reports with delivery by e-mail in XLSX or CSV formats. These features help optimize cloud infrastructure costs and ensure efficient resource allocation.

Ease of administration and self-service

Managing requests to technical support has become easier — a special "Requests" section has been created, where the user sees all requests and their statuses. The creation of new virtual servers has been accelerated through the use of templates with pre-installed software, and each department now sees only the templates relevant to it.

“Our infrastructure product customers are companies that implement government and commercial services. This imposes serious obligations on us in terms of the flexibility and stability of our solutions, so we pay special attention to these characteristics. In Cloud Control 5.1, we focused on implementing high-availability clusters and increasing the reliability of the infrastructure managed by our products in order to minimize the risk of failures and downtime for customers,” said Dmitry Sorokin, Technical Director of Basis.
