Trade-in – a scheme to exchange a used smartphone for a new model. The buyer receives a discount equivalent to the price of the old smartphone. Recently, it has become possible to upgrade a smartphone or laptop in a similar way.

The condition of the traded-in smartphone is assessed by the store, which offers its price for it. Its size depends on the age, make and model, and technical condition of the smartphone. In essence, trade-in is an exchange of an old smartphone for a new one with a surcharge.

Apple smartphones accounted for 31% of all devices traded in, while Samsung accounted for 29%. For comparison, in 2023, Samsung led with 31%, while Apple's share was 18%.

  2. Xiaomi – 23%;
  3. HUAWEI – 22%;
  4. Apple – 18%;
  5. Oppo – 5%

Top 5 traded-in brands under the trade-in program in 2024:

  1. Apple — 31%;
  2. Samsung — 29%;
  3. Xiaomi — 22%;
  4. HUAWEI — 11%;
  5. Realme — 1%.

The most popular model was the iPhone 11 (15% of all traded-in devices). The top ten also included iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro Max and other Apple models, which confirms the brand's continued popularity.

Thus, Apple not only regained the lead in trade-in but also strengthened its position among Russian consumers.

The top ten popular models traded in under the program included six devices from Apple: iPhone 11 (15% of all traded-in devices), iPhone 12 (9%), iPhone 13 (7%), iPhone 12 Pro Max (6%), iPhone 14 Pro Max (5%), Redmi 9A (4%), iPhone 11 Pro (4%), Samsung Galaxy A 32 (4%), Samsung Galaxy S22 (4%), Samsung Galaxy A 54 (4%).
