The Domfy team decided to test the opinion that household appliances cannot be a good gift. The results of the study refuted this stereotype: more than half of the women surveyed (55%) would like to receive household appliances as a gift for March 8th. And for every third participant in the study (32%), household appliances are already present in the wishlist.
The most desired devices were a planetary mixer, a robot vacuum cleaner, and a multicooker. This choice emphasizes the desire to simplify household tasks and free up their time for something really important.
Cosmetics and perfumes (36%) ranked second in terms of desirability. Jewelry and travel packages almost equally shared the third and fourth places (27% and 25%, respectively). Gadgets are slightly less interesting to women (22% of respondents).
From the point of view of the cost of the gift, 37% of the men surveyed plan to spend an amount in the range from 1 to 3 thousand rubles. Another 26% plan to spend from 3 to 5 thousand rubles, 16% of men are considering an amount from 5 to 15 thousand rubles. Every fourth man (22%) plans to give gifts up to 1 thousand rubles. Interestingly, women's expectations about the price range of gifts coincide with the answers received from men.
The study revealed that women aged 30 to 45 are waiting for the most expensive gifts.
The perception of the holiday differs greatly between men and women. Every second respondent (53%) is ready to do household chores on March 8th: set the table, welcome guests, clean up after the celebration. For 34%, March 8th, on the contrary, is a day of female carefree, in which you can relax and enjoy the care of others. For more than half of the men surveyed, March 8th is a cause for concern due to problems with choosing a gift and anxiety about its assessment.
Almost every fourth man surveyed (26%) admits the possibility of a silent resentment due to a poorly chosen gift, and another 7% are afraid of an open quarrel. Worries and concerns are justified, since 7% of women also admitted that they are ready to openly express their dissatisfaction in a conflict. However, another 48% of women noted that they would not react to an unsuccessful gift in any way, since they appreciate the attention with which it was prepared and the partner's time spent on the choice.
Returning to the question of choosing a gift, a third of women create a wishlist or directly say what they want. Another 16% begin to hint long before the holiday, casually sending links to the desired gift. A significant part, 41%, is waiting for a surprise, giving the man the opportunity to decide on the gift himself. One in ten women expects nothing for the holiday.
Men most often study gift ideas in online stores (22%), look for clues on social networks (13%), ask friends for advice (10%), react to advertising on the Internet (7.6%). A quarter of men ask directly what gift a woman would like to receive.
