ALD Pro 2.1.0 «подружили» с Microsoft

Astra Group, a leading Russian software developer, announces the release of a new version of the directory service management system – ALD Pro 2.1.0.

ALD Pro is a tool that allows you to build a domain for Linux infrastructure and centrally manage the parameters of domain objects through group policies: computers, servers, and users. The solution is included in the "Register of Russian Software" under number 12159.

One of the key challenges when migrating infrastructure to import-independent solutions is to ensure the correct operation of the implemented products in conjunction with legacy software and services from Microsoft during the transition period. Another important task is to avoid high costs for administering two different solutions.

These issues are faced by all organizations that are switching to domestic software, and it is these user needs that formed the basis of the new ALD Pro 2.1.0 release. The solution has received the functionality that the market has been waiting for: two-way trust relationships and data synchronization with MS AD. To do this, the developers implemented a global catalog and a data synchronization module between Microsoft Active Directory (MS AD) and ALD Pro domains.

The new features will allow administrators to build a full-fledged heterogeneous infrastructure for the transition period and reduce risks when migrating domain data. Now you can:

• connect from Linux workstations from the ALD Pro domain to services and network resources (web server, file server, database, etc.), including printers in the MS AD domain;

• synchronize individual user accounts and their groups from MS AD domains with the global catalog based on ALD Pro.

«In the new version of the system, we have implemented a mechanism for two-way trust relationships between Microsoft Active Directory and ALD Pro. These features, which were not previously available on the Linux systems market, will allow our customers to work comfortably in a hybrid domain environment, use shared equipment and network resources. It became possible to gradually transfer the IT infrastructure to domestic solutions, since all domain users will be able to continue working with existing services during the transition period. This will significantly reduce the labor costs of administrators and improve the quality of the entire import substitution process», — said Evgeny Pautov, Director of the Department of Management Tools Development at Astra Group.

Additionally, in ALD Pro 2.1.0, users will receive a number of improvements and enhancements related to information security, domain management, access rights, as well as system updates and documentation for working with the system.

«In addition to the standard user and administrator guides, our team develops documentation describing the best practices for using the product. We have created a separate area of architects and engineers who work directly with customers, analyze cases, explore the possibilities of optimizing the system and its applicability in real organizations' infrastructures», — added Pautov. — In other words, we already have unique expertise in the market for import substitution of this kind of systems».

It is also worth noting that the product development and support teams, in addition to introducing new functionality, have achieved significant success in optimizing the system in large infrastructures. Load testing was carried out at one of the customers, and its positive results indicate that the solution can withstand a load of 300 thousand users.

To date, more than 50 large customers have chosen ALD Pro, and the number of licenses sold has reached 100 thousand. At the same time, the developers plan to continue improving the product so that it meets the high standards of the modern market.
